Born in Connecticut, Dr. Megan Clarke began pursuing a career in psychology following several years of teaching. Dr. Clarke completed her Doctoral Degree in Clinical Psychology as well as a certificate in Health Psychology in 2016 at the University of Connecticut.  There, she worked under Dr. Amy Gorin in the Weight Management Lab, examining the relationship between mental health and health behaviors throughout various life transitions, including the transition to college and the transition to motherhood.  Dr. Clarke’s dissertation project focused on relationships between mothers and infants in the postpartum period, and maternal mental and physical health.  Prior to pursuing her doctoral degree, Dr. Clarke obtained a Master’s degree in Mind, Brain and Education from Harvard University where she studied theories of multiple intelligence and the role of emotional intelligence in learning and school readiness under Drs. Howard Gardner and Kurt Fischer.  Additionally, she worked in Harvard’s Lab of Developmental Studies investigating how infants perceive and reason about the world around them as a research assistant with Dr. Susan Carey.  Dr. Clarke completed her predoctoral internship at Connecticut Valley Psychology Internship and River Valley Services in Middletown, Connecticut.  She completed a postdoctoral fellowship in Health Psychology at VA Connecticut Healthcare with a joint appointment at the Yale School of Medicine.  Finally, as a mother with young children herself, Dr. Clarke is a member of the American Psychological Association, the Connecticut Psychological Association, and the Society for Behavioral Medicine.  Finally, as a mother, Dr. Clarke has an intimate understanding of the challenges and transitions associated with parenting.
